Ok I'll try adding the bones now. Quick question, though: I think I would just add the bones to the lower jaw, right, like three bones total (one horizontal and two vertical)? the main part of the skull probably won't move. I'll toy with that and see what I can come up with
Yes just 3 bones on the lower jaw. That why I only put the lower jaw in the bone layer.
Sorry for bad animation

Hey Stephen,
Ooooh I just noticed you posted an actual animation tutorial for this, which I hadn't noticed before. I wasn't adding the bones correctly before, but I see now how you are doing it. I'll give her a try.
I did a similar thing with what you had done initially with the "scale layer" thing to mimic the mouth opening and closing, and it looks pretty decent, but still not quite right, so I'll see if this way looks more natural. Thanks again for your help

that vincent price bit is hillarious :) like the fire effect...
if the bones aren't working for you, make sure the tick box to warp to bones is set on the jaw image layer...

That fire is actually my 1st try at an AVI with an alpha layer. If AS would allow for animated GIF it sure would make things a lot easier to do.
Sorry for bad animation

but gifs are limited to 256 colours, which is terrible for video... gif usage would be extremely limited
