Animating over video

Post by SillySam »

Hello,
I'm a musician and perform a show and teach a curriculum to pre-schoolers. I have this idea for a companion video to go with my classes. Something for parents to watch with their kids. I have anime Studio 6 debut and have been messing around with the tutorials and have made some stuff move, clouds,Catus waving arms, poorly drawn dinosaur moving his head, etc. I've messed around with bones and somewhat understand the tools.
My question is this...Can I import a minute and a half video of me against a white background and add some simple stick figure animation over the white, music notes and stuff. I also want to add some text, it's basically the title sequence. I tried to import the movie but nothing happend (loading circle forever). I have uploaded audio and it worked fine but I'm not even close to being able to animate the whole video but was hoping I could add simple stuff to my video somewhat easily.
This is a no-budget kind of project so I'd really like to do it myself. I have the Official Guide for 6 but it mostly talks about images and not video.
If you have any suggestions that would be great!
Thanks,
Silly Sam

This is a nice idea for a project.
I've not used imported video before, but i've just managed to do it using an image layer - select a video file instead of a still image as source and it should load into the timeline. If that is what you did and it still isn't importing, the format of the video source is almost certainly the problem, and what AS supports or not i dont really know - but i just imported a MOV file (that was originally exported from AS) and it came in without a glitch so quicktime MOV is probably a good place to start

Good luck with the project :)

Thanks for the quick reply. I originally tried a WMV,didn't work.I found a free converter (AVC) changed to MPG and neither worked. I just checked and AVC doesn't do MOV's and I've never used quicktime, but I'm gonna start there so thanks alot!!!
