Sheep!

Post by Johnofmiddledistance »

Hi again everyone, well, I've had me an exciting few weeks I've learnt how to do basic head turns and how to use actions, also, how to rig bones on a character, it's been brilliant!

Well, here's my new addition to the vault...

Please let me know what you think, am I getting any better at the old animation? I'm really proud of this one :D

Thanks for your time guys and gals
John.

Very nice! I like the pacing and mood. It's very entertaining! And I like the Frank and Steve reference. :D But didn't you have bones and head turns on Frank and Steve as well?

Thanks for watching and commenting iwax. No, Frank 'n' Steve was completely swtiches, except one episode that I didn't animate (my friend, is good artist and is quite experienced with anime studio, he came in and did the last one), that, however, was also laced with problems.

Basically, I learned how to rig from seeing him make the preformentioned toon and since, I've been trying to raise my game dramatically.

Thanks again :D

Nice animation. How do you get the mouth, eye, and eyebrows switch layers to move with the head? When ever I move my characters head the switch layers stay in one spot. And all the layers are in the same bone folder. What am I doing wrong?

if your talking about the sheeps head turn on actions, then every layer in the switch needs to be moved with in that action.
instead of just moving the switch layer its self or so I understand it.

love your sheep toon btw vv funny :D

I enjoyed that. Great stuff :D

H.G. DaGr8One - Switch Layers need to be bound to a bone to move with it. In the instance you mention you need to :-

1. Select your switch layer in the layers palette
2. Click on the Bind Layer Tool in the Tools Palette (Bone section) - Hover your cursor over tools for the name to be displayed.
3. Click on the Head Bone

Your Switch layer should now move with the head.

I just tried to bind the switch layer to the head bone and when I went to frame 1 they were still not connected to the head. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe, I can send you the file and you can see what I'm doing wrong.
