my 1st animation

Post by sbtamu »

I got AS Debut for xmas and was able to make this after a few weeks of reading tuts online and via help in-program. I neither an artist or animator. I am a school teacher.

I chose to copy "South Park" style because of the basic shapes and though it a good way to learn the tools.

I got some good tips by watching youtube and reading the forums here.

I used Audacity for the sound work and my cell phone to record some ambiant sounds.

I kinda spent too much time drawing background props and the animations have alot of mistakes. I'll might delete this one and restart one that is more my own design.

Also, I drew every thing you see, nothing was imported beside the 2 pictures in the class room on the wall; my vette and the grandkids.

Comments are wlecome!!!

It is quite good for the first animation and even for an experienced one!
It has a storyline, and good timing besides its limited movements. Drawings are not bad and there are lots of overlapping action what is not easy for a newbie!
Good work!

Yes, I did use somewhat of a story board and a script, If you can call looking at a word doc. I read from while recording, but ended up being more ablib than being word for word. I guess it was more of a guidline.

As for a storyboard; I did not actually draw one, I just made a list of scenes that would go along with the script.

The biggest hang up was as I progressed through the animation I would learn new stuff and would have to constantly go back and redo some stuff in the earlier scenes.

Also, I forgot to write down what changes I made on the voices so it was hard to duplicate each kids voices from scene to scene, aka--pitch/speed

I learned alot about animation over the past few months and it's really hard and time consuming but rather satifying.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions

Today is my 6th month anniversary of the day I found Anime Studio on a shelf at Target. This was like my 3rd post but my first ever animation, I thought I would recycle it for fun sake.
Sorry for bad animation

Sbtamu--Oh yeah, I remember that thread. Hmm... That sucks. Definitely don't want you to get into trouble over your love of animation! :D I've done a really short animation for my friend's birthday using the character P-chan from Ranma 1/2. Fortunately(?) I didn't put too much work into it so it's not as big of a drag that I can't post it.
