Back to ASP - New head

Post by GCharb »

Hello all!

Due to work I was keeped away from ASP, now I am getting re-acquainted with it's drawing tools and here is the result.

Will start a website real soon about a commercial short I plan on making with ASP, nothing to do with this character which was merely a practice acomplice.

Good one. Difficult to turn around, though.

I wonder why you gave his hair a black outline while the skin has a brown one?

Hello tiger and thanks.

Like I said, this was merely for fun and practice, as for the head turn, I usually do those with point motion and little minds eye, not a fan of complicated rigs, which I found cumbersome and not worth the time to apply to character, a personal preference I suppose.

As for the hair, I wanted some contrast, but you are right, it looks a bit out of place compared to the rest of the character, thanks for the input!

Hello again!

Finally decided to work a bit more on that head, made a few changes and I animated a head turn with it, no complicated rig, just switch layers for the eyes and some point motion.

The whole thing took about 10 minutes to animate and put in an action.

toonheadturn.mov 431 kb

Since this is only practice, decided to share with the community.

Not perfect but a good start! :)

Nice animation technique. You just flip the points to get the opposite view, right? I usually reposition all the points to get the opposite view, but now I'm thinking it's not always necessary. It's certainly looks snappy the way you do it.
