Fire birgade animation project (FINISHED!)

Post by moorsel »

I started a new project for my son, using Anime Studio Pro 6 and Lego Cito Fire Brigade. See the results of the first steps into this project on Youtube:

Very nice moorsel.
How did you cut the Lego photo images? by hand or did you use a special technique?

Hi Genete,

All Lego images were cut out by hand. I tried a (chroma) keying technique but my "lighting equiment" is not good enough and the result were not good enough (at least not better than doing it manual).

I enjoyed that. There's some great effects in there such as the fire engine driving along the road. Really well done :D

Thanx!

Some additional information:

The story starts with a fire alarm in the fire station and a fire engine response. A woman tells the fire chief that Pompom is trapped in the burning house. Fire fighter Rens rescues Pompom from the burning house. Rens is a herow and his action is front page news.

Background: This is an animated video I made for my son Rens. For his birth day he got the Lego Fire station. Before that he saw many Lego stop motion movies on Youtube and he would like to have his own Lego movie. His 'friend' pompom also had to play in the animation.

I decided not to make a traditional stop motion movie but something different. I created this video using Photoshop and Anime Studio Pro. I took photos of Rens and the Lego stuff using my Nikon D50 DSLR and used Photoshop to cut out the pictures parts. Using Anime Studio Pro I created the animation in cut-out-animation style. Fire effects and flash light are also added using this animation software package.

The live video of Delfgauw in the Nehterlands (where we live) is shot with my Nokia N96 mobile phone.
