Maybe you should have a look at http://johnkstuff.blogspot.com/2006/12/ ... -some.html and similar articles on John Kricfalusi's blog. I found them full of valuable detail especially for dealing with colours, which I'm really crap at. Some of your BGs are a bit too monochrome for my taste, maybe you'll try to spice them up a bit.

I love them all, including the monochrome ones. (The thing about backgrounds is, you don't want them to stand out...)
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
