Some toast

Post by slowtiger »

In the meantime I did some simple icon animation, just as a test for style and colours.

Only one crit; where's the back wall?

Of course, every stroke done in AS. You can't see it in this size, but the strokes are completely separated from the shape of the toaster.

I just used AS because I knew about its freeform drawing abilities. I have a job upcoming which requires that I draw in similar style in Illustrator, then save as SVG. It would be nice if SVG would be added as export format for AS some day.

Hi Slow, maybe you could add it a simulated 3d rotation to the toast. I think that would be cool.

To make it perfect you can add the toast's shadow on the table ;)

The crosshatching on the tablecloth is uneven.

On the contrary: it is not uneven enough!

Please, this was just a test, and I don't intend to make this into a movie. If I was to, I'd need to rework all parts. I'm not really good in this style which seems to come naturally to some other artists, like the sample Gnaws gave here: viewtopic.php?t=15289

What I would do, though:
- add textures where necessary
- don't use gradients, instead stack uniformly coloured items so they give a similar impression
- separate outlines and coloured shapes even more (think "101 Dalmatians", http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos ... 84-588.jpg - note the BG! http://www.cartoonbrew.com/wp-content/u ... oreb_b.jpg)
- definitely not do any enforced 3D rotations, except where the story needs them
- don't do any realistic shadows.

Maybe you should make the window and window sil bent as well to suit the tablecloth???
