There's always Animation magazine. The URL is:

http://www.animationmagazine.net/

I used to be able to get this at just about any Barnes and Noble but I don't think they carry it anymore. It's a pretty lightweight magazine but it's still very informative.

Thanks AniPierre but I had seen that one before. I should have mentioned that. It's the only one that I'm aware of. I was hoping to find one that dealt with mainly cartoon (2D) animation, software, techniques, news and reviews.

There is no printed 2D animation magazine, to my knowledge. There are, however, several magazines dealing with 3D and Special Effects available in seveal languages.

I recommend cartoonbrew.com as a starting point for your research, they feature whatever magazines and books cfross their way.

I'll second that...Cartoonbrew.com is a great website.

I also visit http://www.michaelspornanimation.com/splog/ on a daily basis. He posts almost daily, though not always about animation. However, he links to many good articles and often posts wonderful animation art and reprints from old articles.

Another nice website that features animation art is:

http://animationbackgrounds.blogspot.com/

Enjoy!

A good magazine(although out of print) is FPS http://www.fpsmagazine.com/blog/index.php. It still has back issues on it that can be downloaded for about a doller or two. And there are lite issues that have been stipped down that can be downloaded for free.[/u]
