Orion-1, the use of 3D objects inside Anime Studio Pro

Post by FCSnow »

I've seen a lot of good work try to simulate 3D (2.5D). And I've beed impressed with all of it and hope to incorporate these technic in future efforts.

But in ASP's tutorial, 6.8, it talks about using 3D objects inside ASP. So I began to experiment with it and the results are Orion-1. There are drawbacks to say the least. The starship I used was created using Wings3D. Which to many hours to trial and error, especially with texturing. Everything else was done completely inside ASP.

Are those glows done with layer shadows?
Interesting, I didn't realise that they worked on objects.
3D needs more features in AS , but I'm glad that the feature exists, it's handy for all sorts of stuff.

In fact, it is the Shader that I'm using (the second option). In certain scenes you will see two glows. I did this two different layers, the object layer the group layer.

The downside to using one 3D objects is like adding twenty-plus layers to your animation. It slows everything down.

If I continue to use 3D object I will use them for backgrounds and other inanimate objects. But then again, I sometimes can't help getting carried away.
