Compositing in AS

Post by slowtiger »

I'm doing a music video right now, hand-drawn animation in TVPaint, in HD (1280 x 720). Some scenes are just pans or multiplane work, but these lead to big files in TVP because there you store each layer in frame at full bitmap resolution - 10 sec easily cost me 500 MB. So I rendered some layers as PNGs, made the rain a QT loop, and imported everything in AS. Not only that setting up a multiplane pan is much faster here, the file is also a mere 12 k because it only contains references to the image files.

http://slowtiger.de/examples/dr2.html (0,6 MB)

I will continue with this combination of software since I like that crayon look (which is done completely digitally ...) The video is expected to be finished in January.

Looks good, my only critique is the light from the lamp, it stands out as an object rather than an element.

Everything else looks spot on-

Yes, the lamplight could be toned down a little...but very nice work.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Thx for the comments. I also should add some shadows, but leave that until I have the characters placed in that scene. Overall it's a bit too detailed for TV, but I hope to be able to show it in HD at festivals.
