Hi rudiger.

Yes they are 100% black.I have never used the splotchy effect.

In order to get that look you have to make your drawings in anime studio with thin lines.If you make your drawings with thick lines they will look more like cartoons for kids or something like that.I like to make my animations with thin lines.
Use the line width control tool.
