Papercraft animation

Post by jhbmw007 »

Here I used Anime Studio to animate the eyes and mouth on this "live action" papercraft puppet:

I really enjoyed that -- and the lipsynch looked pretty good too! Well done!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Did you animate the face separate and motion tracked the head in post or did you track it by hand in AS?

it would be a mare to track it by hand in AS... i would guess at fully animating the face flat, and tracking it in post :)

Really nicely done :) great idea for mixing footage and animation and it was seamless!

Sadly- I did it all by hand in AS lol. All 1200 frames. I didn't have any software that could do the tracking for me- can anyone recommend something? I'm thinking about doing some more animations like this (I've been making these little papercraft guys and they're collecting around the house- check out cubeecraft.com).

The latest version of After Effects can do tracking -- but it ain't cheap...
