Well I'm not familiar with scripting at all and I use mostly what is built into the program. I'm using pro by the way.

I have done tests of metal textures for parts of the vehicle like the rims and it works fine for me.

The thing is that you can't expect to treat the whole thing as one object.

I usually keep the rims and tires as seperate objects so that i can animate them individually.

Then I just put all the parts into one group folder and animate the folder in 3D space. This has a few advantages.

1) I can use a 2d box as a proxy to keyframe the movement of the car then just drop the 3d object in the folder before rendering. 3D really slows down ASP.

2) I can key frame one tire rotating 360 degrees and then make duplicates within the folder for the other tires.

3) I can control outline thickness seperately for objects with textures and objects without textures.

I use a simple prog called Ulead Cool 3d to generate my models and textures then I convert them with Wings 3D to obj format. It works for me.
