Importing/Selecting soundtrack causes crash on Win XP Pro

I have Anime Studio Pro 5.6. I down sampled my wav file to the suggestions made on this forum (8bit, 11k, mono, uncompressed). But each time I import/select soundtrack - the program will crash. At times right when I import or during any operation following it.
I've searched the forum and haven't found anything exactly like this.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hmmm, can't say I'd recommend downsampling -- that may be the issue.

All of my soundtracks are uncompressed 16bit 44khz stereo which import and play just fine in AS. I don't think I'd recommend anything else.

Perhaps you should provide the sample sound file to allow the developer and other users to confirm the bug. Or at last send a PM to LostMarble to provide him the problematic file.

I downloaded a new version of the libsndfile.dll and replaced the file installed with Anime Studio.
The crash does not occur now.
