I think there's MUCH you can do with a four point ball. I don't think you need more than four points to express a lot of things!
And I think there's a couple of good reasons to stick with this simple blob philosophy (four-point, five-point six-point... whatever... as long as we don't succumb to facial expressions or recognizable figures or body shapes)
1. with the "blob" we can keep this challenge thing fast, simple and FUN to do. And you don't have to put a lot of time to building character-rigs and stuff...
2. If we avoid recognizable bodyshapes and facial expressions we can keep this as a pure animation exercise. When the shape we use is this limited it means that we really have to concentrate on the movement, the animation of it. You know, we are forced to speak body language through those four points. That's a very good exercise, IMO
But most important... let's keep it fun!
(Do we really need a lot of rules, anyway?)
