A repository of human photographs and poses?

Post by Genete »

I've read some time ago a post in this forum where someone putted a link (two links) to a researching university or something similar that have a lot of photographs and videos of human parts and movements.
I've searched the forum but I couldn't find it.
Does anybody remember the post and be so kind of stand it up again?
selgin maybe?

Thanks

Genete: "putted"=put. Sorry I know you in a different country but I've seen you use that so many times and it makes me thing of someone golfing everytime lol.

Anyways- I thought you were looking for something I was going to ask for but those look like something different- so I'll go ahead and ask: Is there any website that has photographs of different male/female bodies for use with cut-out style animation? Like Jib-Jab style? Different outfits and bodies, and hands from every angle? Maybe even cut-out ready png's with transparency?

 Aaaarrgh!! Those bloody on line orthographic correctors!!! You're absolutely right!! I have put a lot of timed "putted" instead of "put" but since "putted" is an existing word the corrector did not correct it when I put "putted" instead of "put". Maybe I should have put "puted" instead of "putted" to let the corretor do its work but I put "putted" instead of "put"... Do yah?!
Thanks, jhbmw007 I'll never put it again...

PS: those are the links I was asking for but anyway your request maybe interesting

jhbmw007: No, there's no source online with all this material oven-ready prepared for the lazy animator - of course not. Why put a lot of work into something and then give it away for free? And there's other reasons: the face you want to use belongs to a person, and this person has to give permission to have their face used for anything published. Normally they're paid for this - are you ready to pay for this permission?

(There's a difference between giving away knowledge for free, and giving away stupid but tedious work for free. I always do the first one, but never the second.)

Hand positions you can do easily by yourself, as long as you have a camera. You can lift face features from any porn site - but don't use a whole face (legal reasons, as mentioned). Hair and cloth textures you'll find in ads. Often it's easier to scan those from a printed magazine than to deal with the small dimensions and bad resolution of online stuff.

(I did cutout animation with magazine snippets back in 1977 ...)

Well, I never said it had to be free... just seems like cutout animation is easy and fun I'm surprised there isn't a site like that maybe sells cut-out ready images of generic bodies and such (man, woman, businessman, etc). I didn't ask for faces either... Although I doubt Jib Jab paid George Bush or John Kerry everytime they put them in an animation- I'm sure they had rights to the original pictures that they "cut up", all they did was then "move them around".

Thing is, stock photo companies like to earn money, and so some of the best sources aren't free of charge. OTOH they don't care for animators, so you will not get any set of usefull hands in motion from them.
