Have you come up with a good Moho trick? Need help solving an animation problem? Come on in.

Swith layer interpolation trick

Post by Genete »

Dis you know that you can have interpolation in a switch layer although not all the sub- layers have the same points?

For example you have 6 sub-layers
A
B
C
D
E
F

in terms of amount of points A=B=C and D=E=F, but A, B and C are different from D or E or F.

You can interpolate between A to B to C etc. and also switch to D, E and F group of ointerpolation.

But think about this:

What happen if (for example) C "looks like" D but with a different amount of points? You can make a overal interpolation between A and F without any visual step!!!! You can make things dissapear or appear smoothly. Also you can introduce extra points (or reduce them) without any problem.

Hehe, I like it!!

Hi Genete. I'm having trouble understanding what you are saying. Initially I thought you were reffering to a new feature and I tried intrerpolating between a couple of objects with non equal amounts of points but nothing happened. Don't worry. I have trouble understanding the most basic of things most of the time lol.

I believe he means that if you have 2 different drawings in your switch layers (let's say A and C just to simplify a bit further), and you want to interpolate them, normally you're out of luck because they have to have the same number of points and in the same order. So, to work around this, you can duplicate switch A, rename it B, and drag the points around until it resembles switch C. Now, you can interpolate from A to B, then switch immediately to C, and it will appear that you've interpolated from A to C.

Thanks for clearing that up touched. Rotoscoping switch layers maybe a clearer title? Handy suggestion though thanks Genete.

Thanks Touched for your short and clear explanation.

Also the tip is regarding to the fact that it is not neccesary to ALL th sub-layer shoud have the same points if you want to have interpolation. You can have groups of equal number of points and interpolation can be done with them.
