Nudge objects?

Is it possible to "nudge" objects (points, layers, etc) with the arrow keys (or some other key)? When I use the arrow keys, it only adjusts the timeline. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a modifier key I can use.

I realize this is probably in the help document somewhere, but I'm at work and it suddenly bothered me.

ctrl+shift+arrow keys to nudge a bigger amount at a time
