Avi to swf converter

Post by Avalanche941 »

Does anybody know a free AVI to SWF converter? Thanks.
"Good" thinks itself "good", but "evil" thinks itself "good" also. "Evil" thinks "good" is "evil", and vice versa. You think "good" is "good" simply because it is better for your welfare.

Not sure how good it is, it's from SoThink:

www.thebest3d.com/sothink

But I also use a different one, called Boomer Video. I have version 4, there's a different owner where you can find Boomer 5 nw. I think. I think this:

http://www.segon.com/boomervi.html

I don't know if they have further improved the compression but the version I have (v 4) does an ok to pretty darn good job already. But it doesn't keep the audio with it. They also have a separate tool for audio, Boomer audio.

You can find sample Flash anims in www.thebest3d.com in many places, and I usually make them by converting an AVI into a .swf format with Boomer.

I really like the way they turn it into a Flash stream - no need to preload. The movie clips start playing immediately.

Camstudio is pretty darn nice.

It is mainly a screen capturing tool (captures to video). However, it comes with a AVI to SWF converter that works quite nicely as well.

I don’t know is there free avi to flash converters…. But you may try video to flash converter
It costs but it has a lot of useful abilities. It converts any video format to .swf/flv. Also you can choose size, duration, quality and ect.

AVI2SWF only works with raw avi's, FFmpeg supports loads of codecs and formats. They are both free open source software. 8)

I followed up the ffmpeg link you gave...so...how do you download it? Can you use it with the Windows command line running in XP Home? I hate it when you go to one of these web sites where it's so nerdy that you have to ask these simple questions!! I went to several pages and it looked like Linux abandonware...just guessing...

Vertical Moon has some very affordable applications for both Windows and Mac OS X to create SWF files from video files and to add a preloader to your SWF file. Both are needed if you want to show your SWF files with sync audio online (without the preloader the audio often goes out of sync).

For gods sake, If you cant be bothered to google (ffmpeg+windows) feel free to use any of other proprietary applications the other nitwits posted. The world dose not revolve around your crapy XP home, Linux pwns! :!: :P

PS. add gui to your search if you don't like command line tools.

BTW the only GUI application for ffmpeg and Mac OS X I could find through Google was ffmpegX. It is not freeware, but shareware and its current version is 0.0.9. The GUI interface looks downright ugly. I can't recommend using this software, because it is in its very early stages of development.

I've been using ffmpegX for a couple of years now and it's updated regulary, and for my needs it's been working quit good (osx) I don't know if it's supported in windows and it's unable to output to swf, it supports flv (flash video), and yes it's shareware but you are able to try it.
