I noticed that a "brushed line" (for lack of a better word) did not export to my SWF file. It just showed up as a solid line. (1) Pilot error? (2) Will be fixed in a later beta? (3) Never gonna happen?

3 - Never gonna happen.
When we get the manual written, we'll include a section on Flash - what can be exported, what can't, how to optimize your file if Flash is the intended target, etc.
Brushes in particular are just one of those things that Flash doesn't support. You could simulate it in Flash by exporting a large number of images (actually the same image repeated over and over) placed along the curve, sized appropriately for the curve's width, but it would be very, very slow when playing back.
Sometimes, rendering is your friend...
