Hi.
Here's something I still can't figure out.
I've got a folder for the head. Inside are the eyebrows, pupils and a Switch layer for the mouths.
Before I animate anything, I create a smart bone action to make a head turn. All fine so far.
When I'm back at the main timeline and want to move the pupils, for instance, they most often snap back to where they were in the action.
So how should I do this so that I can have the head turn and then also be free to animate what's in the Head Folder on the main timeline?
Thanks.
UPDATE: This doesn't always happen. But when it does, I don't know why so I can't fix it.
Keeps crashing when creating actions.

Re: Eyes and Mouths keep snapping position when using Actions
I'm wondering if you have the position keyframed in more than one action, which may create a conflict when both actions are active.

Don't think so.
I'll have to check when it happens again.
For now I've got it working. Sort of.
Thanks for the response.

Re: Eyes and Mouths keep snapping position when using Actions
UPDATE:
You might not be able to help me with this since you're not here looking over my shoulder, but just in case, I'm posting exactly what keeps happening.
This is not something that always happens on every file, but happens enough that I'm stumped.
1. I have a folder with the full body and another folder with all of the head - eyes, mouths (switch layer) glasses, eyebrows all in the Head folder. The Head folder is above the body (bone) folder, not inside it.
2. I have one bone for the head. I created 2 smart dials. One for head turn, one for head up down. They work fine when I'm in the action timeline.
When I go back to the Main timeline, the smart dials do nothing. They are not parented to anything, and they have worked on occasion. That's mystery number 1.
On the Main timeline, the head is where I put it. But when I go to the action timeline the head disappears until I save the file. Then the head appears again, but not in the exact place. I reaffirm that the action works and it usually does. I go back to the Main timeline and the head is in the right place.
But when I go back to the Main timeline the smart dials don't work. During this process the program crashes often.
When I quit work yesterday, all was working. Today I open Moho and it's not.
Just to reiterate, I can understand if this is impossible to tell me what's wrong, but I'm posting it here just in case.
Thanks.
One last question. When I'm on frame zero, I can't move or do anything with layers. I have to be on frame 1.
I know there are some things with bones that only work on frame 1 or later, but I thought I could rescale or move layers on frame zero. No?

Re: Eyes and Mouths keep snapping position when using Actions
Just deleted the actions and tried recreating them.
Maybe this is a clue to what's going on?
I put the head folder into the body folder and deleted the head's bone layer so that now there's only one bone layer for the whole body.
I recreated a new smart dial and called it Head Down.
Without me even moving points or anything, the action was doing most of what the old deleted action was supposed to do.
Still had the crashing and head size and position changing, but then it crashed.
So it seems that there's still the old action lurking somewhere.

Re: Eyes and Mouths keep snapping position when using Actions
I may have just resolve the issue.
I had another file for just the one character. It has the 2 smart actions - Head turn, Head up.
It works all by itself.
I thought that if I import it into my new file it would just work fine. It took the smart actions with it, as expected.
So I must have been re creating those two actions in the new file on top of the imported actions.
I think that was working against the actions that came in with the import.
I went back to the original character and found one of the smart dials were parented. So I unparented it.
I deleted the character I was having trouble with and imported the fixed solo character.
So far it looks like that solved it. Hope this might help someone having the same issues.

Re: Eyes and Mouths keep snapping position when using Actions
Spoke too fast.
Must still be some hidden influences.
The actions don't come in with the character import. I looked up how to export and import actions, but connecting them to a smart dial hasn't worked.
And the pgm still keeps crashing.
Don't know if this is a clue but I can't delete keyframes unless I move them first. And I still can't scale or move the head on frame zero.
I'm good with following tutorials, so if you can think of any that'll help, please let me know.
