Moving Ref layer without it snapping back to original position?

Post by NealF2 »

HI.

I'm trying to create a chorus line of dancing pill bottles.
I got the first one doing everything fine.

When I create the reference layer and move the layer over to the side of the original, it keeps moving back to exactly on top of the original.
Putting in a step keyframe where I want the ref layer to start doesn't keep it in that place. Once it gets a new key frame from the original it makes the move I want but also moves back on top of the original.

Is there a way to make each new reference layer moved over a bit, stay in position, and still do all the moves of the original?

Thanks.

You can put the reference into a group layer and move the group instead. This allows you to not interfere with the movement channel.

Actually, my script Layer Copies can be used to automate the process: https://mohoscripts.com/script/sz-layer-copies

Thanks, Stan. That works.

I also noticed something that I'll do next time I need a bunch of clones.

If I make the clones and put them into position BEFORE animating, everything works fine.
