How to completely copy a limb

Post by Hamedss »

I always to copy a limb :
1- copying vector layer
2- copying bones
3-rebind layers and point to bones
4- rebuild actions

some times strange results like moving point without any animation or buggy targeting bones occurs that makes me rebuild the limb from scratch.
Also Step 4 is really annoying
Is there any easier way to copy a limb?

If you're planning to do this anyway, put your limb into its extra bone layer inside the main body bone layer. I'm just not sure if you need to rename the smart bon actions then - do they only have to be unique inside their layer, or globally?

it looks as though action names are global -- IOW two bone layers, whilst they can have bones with the same name, can't have SB actions with the same name. I've tried with two bone layers at "root" level and also with one as a child of the other.

Hi, you can use the MR Transform Rig Tool script to copy character limbs and transfer them from one character to another.
