Import movie on v12.5 not working?

Trying to use a video background for a shot. Using v12.5 on Mac. When I do "import movie", or drag and drop from finder, I'm getting a box with a red question mark instead of the movie. Thought maybe the movie only shows properly upon render, but no good there either. Tried this with two different video files, a .mov with Prores 422 codec, and a .mov with H264 encoding. What I can find online says Moho accepts .mov files, wondering if it only likes certain codecs? One file I tried is 1 minute in length, the other about 6. I would think it could at least tolerate a 1 minute file. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just tested: even my old 9.5 imports and shows a ProRes mov without hassle. Must be something else.
- Check filenames for odd characters and spaces
- put mov on desktop, import from there.

Thanks. Tried moving those movies to desktop, renaming without spaces, importing and drag/dropping into project, still no luck. Found a workaround in creating a PNG image sequence, putting that over the background (the file that won't import properly) in FCPX, which is where I will edit the project anyway, but still would be nice to know why movies aren't working for me in Moho.
