I am still on the ancient Anime Studio Pro 9, because I only use this for very occasional projects and haven't updated since 9 was current. I started something new recently, program seems to work fine on my 2017 Imac with Monterey, however, when I try to export, it just...doesn't work. With quicktime selected as the format, the "ok" button does nothing after being pressed (it LOOKS pressed, but nothing further happens), even after waiting several minutes. Cancel won't close the window either. I can even open multiple export windows. Only solution is to close and reopen the program (after which it still doesn't work). If I select SWF, it at least gets me to a "select destination" screen, but when I hit "save", still, nothing happens. Tried rebooting computer, no good. I'm hoping this isn't a fundamental incompatibility with a newer OS and older software, but fear that's what it is. Looks like the last project I did was in 2018, but that was several years before Monterey was out. Tried searching for this issue online but couldn't find anything. If I did have to upgrade to a modern version, what are the chances I could open the project and just have it work? It's relatively simple, a character rigged with bones bound to photo png layers, some simple animations of the character, camera, and background doing parallax move using Z axis. No custom tools or anything particularly fancy, except maybe a cycle keyframe for a few things.
Can anyone assist? Thanks.

maybe consider getting 12.5 for $30 -- save all the angst of trying to make old s/ware work with new os? -- assuming ofc it is compatible -- I know nothing about macs so tread warily before pushing the "buy" button..

Hi,
+1 for hayasidist's recommendation; just buy Moho 12.5. For the longest time, this was the most stable and capable version of Moho available. I used it in many TV productions at DreamWorks. Plus, for now, you can still upgrade from 12.5 to 14.3 if you decide you need more power.
While ASP 9.0 was the version that got me taking Moho seriously, it was released 13 years ago, so I would not be surprised if some of its features are no longer working nowadays. Moho 12.5, however, still runs well, and it's not just more powerful than 9.0, it's also easier to use.
But, yes, check with a Mac user of 12.5 first. My experience is based on the Windows Version.

Re: Anime Studio 9 Pro won't export
Sorry, I guess I'm not getting reply notifications via email. Sounds like a plan. It says 14 is compatible with Mac OS's after 10.5/Catalina, I'm on 12.something/Monterey, so presumably Moho 12.5 will work with that but I"ll look it up. I just find it weird the program (v9 that is) would generally work fine (it's crashing often when I adjust transparency of the layers, but other than that, fine) and then not export. Never seen that before. Usually if it's not supported you can't open it at all.
Anyway, think I'll be able to open the v9 project in 12.5 or am I starting over?

Re: Anime Studio 9 Pro won't export
It should work. In my experience, old Moho project files seem to work fine in newer versions of Moho. I don't think I ever had trouble bringing 9.x projects to 10.x, and onward to 12.x.
Again, this is on Windows. It's probably fine with Mac too, but ask a Mac Moho user to be sure.
It's trickier going backwards. For example, with Moho 14.3 files, all the bones will have Bone Physics enabled when they are opened in Moho 12.5 or 13.5. Otherwise, so long as Moho 14.3-specific features haven't been used, the files work fine in 12.5/13.5.

Good luck!

Re: Anime Studio 9 Pro won't export
Thanks. Fingers crossed.
Re: Anime Studio 9 Pro won't export
Success (just exported and watched it)! Thanks folks. Before I committed to buying 12.5, I even tried starting a new project in 9, and animating a simple vector shape. Nothing else. Still wouldn't export. So I guess it's in some grey area where it works, but not fully.
Re: Anime Studio 9 Pro won't export
If you want to try Moho 14.3, it will run for a 30-day period. This way, you can at least test the export compatibility with your computer. If exporting doesn't work with 14.3, it's probably an issue with the computer.
A freshly installed Moho 12.5 might run for a 30-day trial period, but I'm not sure since this version is no longer supported by Smith Micro. (Lost Marble's support officially began with Moho 13.5.)
