Color editing effects for bitmap images (saturation, brightness, hue)

Post by marciohmota »

Color editing effects for bitmap images (saturation, brightness, hue) are essential for those who develop more organic work. Without this, it is very difficult to develop something without exporting the separate layers and then making adjustments afterwards. A huge rework due to the lack of such simple resources: saturation, brightness, hue. Implementing this would be a revolution!

I believe you can use layer blend modes for that.

Thank you for the suggestion, I wish it worked like that, but they really are completely different things. one is for blending, the other is for controlling the colors of the image, they are definitely different things. There is some work I do in the link, much of it done in after effects, as I need this type of resource.

I always edit color in separated video editor such as Davinci Resolve. However, if I needed to add some extra color adjustment in Moho, I use blending mode in Moho. It can't help edit color as professional as it is in video editor, but it can help make the scene look very quality sometimes. Then when going to the final video editor, I adjust more if needed.

yeah - tricky on one layer but ... an approach I've used is to have a greyscale image with a colour layer overlaid:

Group > mask inside bottom layer
> vector - colours - blend mode overlay
> image (or vector) greyscale -- use threshold and opacity for contrast / saturation.

this is based on that principle (minus the threshold / opacity tweaks on the greyscale base layer)

Thanks, guys! Great tips! I really like reusing assets in scenery composition, like clouds and other elements, and having the ability to change the color of each thing really is a game changer for those who use bitmaps. I'm looking forward to this implementation, as it is apparently simple, as we already have the toon effect in moho and within it there is the possibility of changing the brightness and saturation, but not without the effect. I believe it would be of great value to everyone!
