Linking Bones constraints with another smartbone?

Post by striker2311 »

Hello Everyone,
Is there a way to link and unlink bone constraints with another smart bones?

Example- suppose I'm connecting smart Bone1 with another smart bone2 by angle control bone (let's bone 1 is full head turn 360 degree and bone 2 is only for 90 degree turn), so is there a way link and unlink bone 1 and bone 2 relation (i.e. through angle control bone) with another smart bone (let's say bone 3)?

Or is there a way to really duplicate smart Bone 1?

I was wondering: if you have a 360 degree turn Smart Bone, why would you also need a separate 90 degree turn Smart Bone?

That said, there are situations where it makes sense to daisy chain Smart Bones (I do this all the time,) and it works well. There are some limitations to be aware of and there are workarounds for these too. But I think I'd need to know more about what you're trying to do.

Just a thought: you can use Vitruvian Bones to switch between similar rigs but using different constraints. I don't know if that applies to what you want but maybe worth looking into?

Hope this helps.

I'm making 2.5d head rig where I, beforehand made full head turn 360 degree, then to control 2.5d head (which is controlled till 90 degree) I made a position control bone (which is a smart bone).

A model very similar to this one:
