Path Parenting?

Post by lazerslab »

Wondering if anyone on here knows of an effective method of parenting a vector path to another layer's shape vector path, so the shape of the child layer would move in unison with the parent (eliminating the need for matching the keyframes), basically allowing for the child shape layer to have a different style applied, but move with the parent.
Coming from working with AE, where parenting shape paths is relatively straightforward, I was wondering if similar methods exist in Moho. I assume it does, and perhaps I am just looking for the wrong things.
I am thinking point binding would probably work, but seems tedious for more complex shapes, and may not fully achieve what parented paths would (such as mimicking animated bezier curves)
I used to use this method often for mouth rigs in AE, and I think pairing it with the line width/hide functions available in Moho would just open a world of possibilities for cool rigging techniques.

In Moho, you basically use group layers as you would nulls in AE. If that kind of hierarchy won't work in your case, try using a reference. You can change the content of a reference layer, and while that content is no longer synced, the layer transforms would still be. As long as you don't animated them in the reference.

Oh wow yes - References layers - Just looked into this - That's exactly what I am looking for ha! Thanks!!!!!! Looks way easier and more versatile than it would be in AE as well so double bonus!
