Some points not showing Bezier handle during curvature

Some points show a curvature number above, but no bezier handles are showing up.
Curvature sometimes works but not how you would expect it to.
Is this a bug?

If you grab that point and move it, you'll find that it's attached to a third point, under it. So this is a mid-line weld, instead of a straight line.

Ah, right you are Wes. I tried that before, but sometimes if you don't have confidence something will work, it don't work.
It worked this time, lol.
