I have just purchased Moho Pro 12 from StackSocial.com. On the startup screen it has a link to free assets to download. Unfortunately these still default to SmithMicro and therefore have no downloads.
Does anybody know if you can still obtain these free assets from somewhere as this will help me get started with this new program.
I also use Cartoon Animator 4 but was impressed how smooth the animations looked in Moho.
Thank you

have you looked in the library that comes with Moho -- Window / Library or click on the "book" icon near the top right of the screen?
Re: Where to download the original free assets for moho 12 original supplied by smith micro
Moho Pro 12 came out 8 years ago and Smith Micro hasn't supported it for quite some time, so I'm not sure you'll be able to find that free bonus content anymore. TBH, I can't recall what that content could have been but you're probably not missing out on much.
Moho 12 did come with some decent content already built-in and you should have it installed already. This is the content hayasidist it talking about, and you can also access it from File >Import >Import Custom Content. Back then, I learned a lot from taking apart this content to see how they work.
It sounds like you bought Moho Pro 12 from a third party, so I hope you have the final version which was Moho 12.5. This version was the final and most stable release in the 12.x cycle, that is, until Moho 13.5.x came out. Smith Micro left the final 12.5 installer available on their website for a while after they sold Moho back to Lost Marble, but I see they finally took it down. (Edit: this is incorrect. See my next post for the correct info about how to get the final installer for Moho 12.5.)
FWIW, Lost Marble will upgrade the Smith Micro branded Moho 12.x to Moho 13.5.x at a discounted price. (As of today (5/15/22) the upgrade is on sale for $149. Don't know how long that will last.)
I mainly use Moho 13.5.4 these days but I was still using Moho 12.5 at work even just a few months ago. I used Moho 12.5 all throughout Boss Baby: Back In Business for the fantasy and backstory segments, and in Fast & Furious Spy Racers for its fantasy/backstory segments plus some of the more whimsical screen graphics. (For example, Frostee's 'Tamagotchi' drone startup screen.)
BTW, I use Cartoon Animator too. I got the Pipeline edition to explore CA as a possible replacement when Smith Micro abandoned Moho back in 2020. I think CA is fun to play with and has a well-designed performance capture workflow, but unfortunately (for me anyway) that's where all the focus is. Hand keyframing puppet animations in CA is awkward at best, you're limited to using only bitmap artwork, and there's no equivalent in CA for Moho's excellent Smart Bones system.
For hand-keyframed 2D puppets, IMO Moho is way more capable and polished. (To see some broadcast TV examples, check out my demo reels here: https://littlegreendog.com/movies/demo-reels/.)
I was so happy when Mike and Victor acquired Moho and released Moho 13.5. The improvements they brought to Moho in the last year or so have been incredible.
Anyway, I hope you like using Moho! In my experience, the rigging process takes the most time in Moho, but once you get the rigging down, animating characters in Moho is super fast and really fun!

Thanks hayasidist, maybe I should work my way through the tutorial guide lol.
Greenlaw, love the showreels. I am waiting to hear back from lostmarble as my serial number isn't currently recognised when I try to purchase the upgrade.
I've had Cartoon animator 4 pipeline and its predecessor Crazytalk animator 3 for some time now, but there are so many additional add-ons to purchase to perform some of the features, this made the package very expensive. The lack of vector graphics without resorting to an old copy of Flash Pro 8 is frustrating as I don't use Adobe CC instead opting for the non subscription model of Affinity Designer and Photo.
I did buy a copy of Anime Studio back at version 10 but didn't put the time in to learn it properly. I'm now retired and want to put some time into learning and creating better animation, previously I mainly made short video films and only used the animation to create title sequences and short clips to enhance and explain elements within the films.

Whoops! Re: Smith Micro's download link, I take it back. I think the link I checked earlier was bad, but this one will take you to the final installer for Moho 12.5...
https://my.smithmicro.com/
If you click on Moho 12/Anime Studio, you'll find download links for the final installers for AS 10, AS 11, and Moho 12. If you don't have the final installer for your version of Moho, you should grab it now before it goes away.
As mentioned earlier, Moho 12.5 is pretty awesome and I used it for many years for creating TV animation. I suggest playing with 12.5 to see if this is something you'll like working with. If you decide you like using Moho 12.5, I do recommend upgrading to Lost Marble's Moho 13.5. Moho 13.5 has nearly all of the features of 12.5, and adds some excellent new features like an improved mesh system, Wind Dynamics, Vitruvian Bones, better layered PSD support, and many workflow and feature improvements.
I hope you can get the SN issue worked out with Lost Marble.
