Just started intro to 3d class and our first assignment is to animate a bouncing ball. I've set up my arc and have a good first bounce. We're learning about squash/stretching and paying attention to timing/spacing and all that good stuff. It needs to be 5 seconds long but so far I only have 1sec. I am wondering how do I expand my workspace so I may continue my first bounce. I have run out of working space and I am stumped as to how to continue where I left off. Thanks.

Use camera tracking to follow your ball. Of course, you'll need a background, otherwise horizontal movement can't be noticed. We always see an object moving relative to its surroundings.

Image
select the Track Camera tool in the toolbar

Image
click on the scene and drag with the mouse button down the mouse vector to the right and the scene moves along with it to the right

keep dragging until you're satisfied; you can drag left and right, up and down (and sideways)

Just like Translate Points and Translate Layer, Track Camera is registered in the timeline with keys. You may want to set your key interpolation to linear if you want a linear horizontal motion.
