Mirroring bones

Post by mystd »

I'm trying to make the shoulder the same as the right one:

Copy and paste worked on the bone but I couldn't find the option to flip it horizontally. I've been trying to figure out how to do this like drawing a line from one tip of right one to the left but when I create another layer and select it the bones vanish visually:

So before I create a screenshot with the bones visible, align it in and yank down the opacity just to be able to draw a line, is there a better way?

1. Select all the arm bones AND the parent torso/spine bone
2. Copy and paste
3. Hit the "side flip" button
4. Select the upper arm bone and hit the "side flip" button
5. Delete the pasted torso/spine bone and parent the new arm to the original

Thx I complety missed the flip bone buttons. I was manly in the add, manipulate and parent bone tools and those didn't have that option. Still got problems with all the tools having different options.

Is it possible to flip the layers like that too? Or with the bones? When I Use the flip horizontally button it only uses the layers axis.

I'm getting this dislocated shoulder but I kind of don't know why:

For some reason the shoulder was shifted like this:

I then pull it up with manipulate bones:

Reparent it:

But when I move it it goes back to it's old position:

Edit:
I found out why it was shifted, in reparent bone when I press and hold the bone it just slides away in a direction and I can't pull it up for some reason.

Is it possible to reposition the bones without the layers attached?

Edit2:
I've redone the whole bone flipping process:

The moment I select the manipulate bone tool it shifts down like this:

It even gets worse when I reparent it:

I can kinda fix it by using offset bone if the layers aren't bound to the bones but it's a lot off guesswork.
