Open 11 files in 10 ?

Post by JerryLive »

Is there any way to open Anime Studio 11 files in Anime Studio Pro 10 (without upgrading to 11) ?

Only if you can get the owner of the file to save for version 10 from 11.

How do you save a file in 10 format from Anime Studio 11? You can't do it in Anime Studio Debut 11.

I doubt Debut can, but Pro has File>Export As Version 10 File.

I get it... If you own Debut, DO NOT upgrade to 11. Thanks...

How on earth did you get that from what I said? Are you sharing files with other Debut 10 users (and can't afford Pro)?

Why?

What file do you need to open? Maybe someone here can help you with that.

I can't think of any other software that offers this feature. And it would be odd if any did, because it would involve looking into the future...
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Microsoft Word
WordPerfect actually did it better...
As did Adobe Acrobat

it's called "forward compatibility"... not as uncommon as you'd think...

While I agree, photoshop can save in versions compatible with older versions (obviously in all cases of software allowing this some functionality would be lost)

This however makes NO sense. You absolutely CAN open v10 pro/debut files in v11, which is the OPPOSITE to what you were initially asking.

Yes indeed ... AS11 uses a completely different file format (JSON) from AS10 and earlier. This format WILL allow AS11 to open files created in future versions - obviously it will mean that features introduced in versions after 11 cannot be supported (and so that data will be ignored by AS11), but the files will open...

Well, I stand corrected...twice.
