How to reset different Line Width for shared point?

Post by Greenlaw »

This might sound like an odd question but can somebody tell me how to I reset the Line With for two shapes that share a point that have different line weights applied? I seem to be running into this situation more often lately and I'm not sure if something has changed in ASP 11 that causes this or if I'm just doing something a little differently these days that's messing me up.

Anyway, here's an example:

Image

In this image, the darker ocher shape is on top of the lighter ocher shape and the shared point is indicated by the red dot. As you can see, the line exiting to the left side of the point is thicker than the line exiting to the right side. I realize that the issue is that the darker shape has a thicker line weight than the lighter one but I can't seem to get the line weights of the two shapes to match because the Line Weight tool only accepts percentage input, not a specified point value.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ah, nevermind, I think I got it--it was apparently user error.

For anybody else running into this issue: The difference was in the Style panel. Even though the two shapes shared the same Style, the Stroke 'override' value was different for the top shape. Once I matched the 'override' weight value to the bottom shape in the Style panel (in this case '2'), the line weights matched up. After that, I could scale the line weights for both shapes properly using the Line Weight tool.
