Uploading an Avatar
I have been trying to upload an account avatar in my User Control Panel. I have an image that is 80 by 64 pixels, and at a resolution of 72 pixels per inch. When I try to upload it, I am told the image is too big. I don't have a current version of Photoshop on my iMac, so I have been trying to resize it using Pixelmator, and Preview. Regardless of how much I reduce the size of the image, Pixelmator still tells me the size of the file is 8 KiB, and the User Control Panel tells me it's too big. Any suggestions?

Re: Uploading an Avatar
Your file size is not restricted if you use an external site to host the file - such as photobucket... you can then add it to your avatar using the image URL instead of trying to upload it (6Kb is a little stingy!)
Re: Uploading an Avatar
I tried Photobucket. No luck. When I added the link provided by Photobucket, I got this error message: "The submitted avatar is 1023 pixels wide and 1024 pixels high. Avatars must be at least 20 pixels wide and 20 pixels high, but no larger than 80 pixels wide and 80 pixels high." so even from a link to Photobucket, it seems to be requiring the same settings. I tried some of the other links provided by Photobucket. The others just got the message: "Invalid URL". I will keep trying.

You must create a 80x80 or less pixels image, even if it's linked from Photobucket.voxac50 wrote:I tried Photobucket. No luck. Re: Uploading an Avatar
yes, I meant this gets you around the file size of 6Kb issue but you still must be max 80x80 (you said your image was 80x64, so you must have uploaded the wrong file?)

I got it! Thanks.
