the problem of a black canvas that wont allow anyting on it

I was all excited to get startd in anime studio debut 11 on windows 7 when all I get is a black canvas that eont allow me to
do anything. Has this happeneed to anyone else and how to fix it so I can make a start? thx I am absolute beginner. Have tried so many online tutorials to no avail.

First, try disabling GPU acceleration in the preferences.

great suggestion thanks and it works. not that i know how but hopefully that helps anyone else starting out. Might be good to throw another one in the mix. I am working on some tutorials that seem to be made for the debut version (The principles of Animation 12lesson workbook), but while I couldnt proceed on ver 11 I was working through an earlier version I had that I realized was a pro version 9. I got to the part that referenced the "scale Layer Tool', but coul not find that in the ver 9 pro version so couldn't proceed. Does it have a different icon for that tool in the pro version? thx

The scale, rotate, and translate layer tools were all combined into the transform layer tool.
