Reference layers and masking tips?
So I heard you could do that "new improved headturn" without the script using reference layers. Last time I tried I couldn't get it to work. Now I am laying in bed with insomnia trying my best not to give up sleeping to give it another go. Can anyone walk me through it? And it does make me wonder what other sorts of tricks may be possible with reference e layers and masking. Ok, off to try and sleep again, and hoping this will be an interesting topic.

And wouldn't you know it, I DID succumb to the desire to figure this out, and, after having asked for help, found that it just works. I don't know what I did before to have it seem broken, but yeah, working now. One thought: now with layer referencing, it would be nice to be able to lock reference layers from editing, while allowing their parent layer to control them. that way rigs like the head turn wouldn't be as easy to inadvertently mess up. And talking about masking, it would be also nice to have a menu item similar to 'group with selection' called 'create mask' that would take a single layer, put it in a folder with masking enabled, add it to the mask, and create a new vector layer.
