First Post!

Post by smatthews1999 »

Hi. First of all I want to say how much I enjoy this software. It really is a pleasure to work with and a source of endless fun. I first got AS 10 Debut but quickly wanted the full version.

I do have a suggestion about your site and the process for buying this software. I think you need accounts and registration for users. I purchased software and services and there seems to be no record of that. Specifically I purchased 2 years of software storage so that I could download my purchased software. Now when I upgraded, I was asked again to purchase 2 years of storage. This is not a nice way to handle this. I want to use what I bought but I can't. Why not keep accounts and keep track of what people buy? Also SmithMicro has no idea of who I am. I bought software, filed out my name and address, but I am asked repeatedly to register. I did...I bought it. Anyway.. minor issues. Thanks.

Welcome Sam!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

I might be mistaken, but I believe that the 2 years of storage that you refer to is per program, not general software storage space account that you can use for 2 years. IE you bought 2 years of downloads for your first program. Then you bought 2 years of downloads for your upgrade (separate program). Basically it's a safeguard for if you lose everything in a computer crash and have no backup, you've reserved the right for 2 years of downloads as sort of a safeguard or warrantee.

Think about it like this, you go down to best buy and purchase a video game or blu-ray, or whatever-- they'll offer you (hypothetically) 2 of years protection for a $3. That $3 covers that one item. If you come back the next week and buy a different movie, you will have to purchase a separate protection plan.

You can decide for yourself if it's worth it or not (hint: companies don't offer these things because they lose money on them). I don't buy protection plans for most things, but I did get it for my recent AS purchase, despite my feeling like I really didn't need it, cause... A) paranoid B) love the software and C) paranoid...

Anyhow, welcome. I'm new here, too, and really enthusiastic about the possibilities of AS!!!
