Bad tracing results

Post by Lebostein »

The tracing in Anime Studio is very, very bad. Are efforts to improve it?

Look at the official tutorial video from Anime Studio 10, which coincides with my own experiences:

This is very embarrassing! If I had implemented these bad working function, I would be ashamed to see this in an official tutorial.

Personally I find the tracing results in other programs to be similarly frustrating and the only way to get consistency out of them is to place the lines and nodes yourself whether you're using Anime Studio, Inkscape or sometimes even Illustrator. I don't find tracing to be useful as a time saver or a shortcut in any program.

Regardless, I'd be interested to know if anyone has used AS tracing in their workflow.

Not even PhotoShop is perfect. My username is "3deeguy" because I make 3D lenticular photographs (not animations). I have a good camera and when I take multiple photos of the same object the pixels don't match when I zoom in close enough to see the pixels. Converting a bitmap to vector is not as easy as it might seem.
I manually trace images. When I want to see the image below my vector layer I turn off visibility.
Cheers, Larry
