Difference between "Bind Layer" and "Flexi-Binding"

Post by Lebostein »

I am very confused. Why there are 2 different functions with the same result? With "Bind Layer" I can only bind one bone to a layer. With "Flexi-Binding" I can bind more then one bones to a layer. This leads to the question: Why is the "Bind Layer" function existent? If I would bind one bone, I can use "Flexi-Binding" as well.

And why is the "Bind Layer" function clickable via the icon bar and the "Flexi-Binding" via windows popup menu only?

What is the difference between "Bone/Flexi-Bind Layer" and "Bone/Use Selected Bones For Flexi-Binding"? That sounds the same for me.

Is in the "Flexible-Binding Mode" the menu command "Bone/Use Selected Bones For Flexi-Binding" the same as the icon command "Bind Layer"

It seems there are "Region Binding" tools available inside the "Flexible Binding" Mode. I am very confused....

Flexi-Binding is the default for every layer. It means that several bones influence all parts of that layer dependent of distance and strength. This will warp the layer.

Layer Binding is completely different. A layer bound to one bone via this method is rigid. Good for rigid elements or if you want a cut-out look.

The reason why Flexi-Binding is in the menu is that sometimes you'll change the binding method back and forth and want to go back to Flexi again.

Region binding (which only works for vector layers) treats the selected points as a rigid object controlled by one selected bone only, while the rest of the layer ist still Flexi bound.
