Two bones affecting a single vector layer...

Hey everyone, I'm new here. I'm just learning Anime Studio Pro 10 with the demo version. I'm having some obstacle that maybe someone can help...

My character is all vector, but right now I'm focusing on the foot, and going up.

The shoe is a single layer for now and a single vector shape. However, during the walk cycle, I want the shoe to bend between the toe and heel.

I creat a bone layer and create the two bone; heel first, then toe. I adjust strength and constraints, and drop the shoe layer into the bone layer.

When I move the bones, the shoe is unaffected, só I bind the shoe layer to the heel bone.

Now when I grab the toe bone, the shoe moves, but only with the heel bone.So I bind the shoe to the toe bone.

The shoe now moves with the toe only. want to bind the shoe to BOTH bones só that it bends as the IK bends the bones.

Can anyone explain how this is possible?

One thing to consider is that if you want the shoe to flex then you bind vector points to each bone. You are probably binding the layer to the bones. Only one bone at a time can control the layer. You can have several SmartBones control vector points. What I just said will bring more questions so I recommend studying up on bone binding.

Thanks Larry! I'll be studying that now.

i recall seeing a tutorial were a guy animated a dragon tail. The tail had about 10 bones. I don't remember smart bones being used. Would that be the only way to do a tail?

Technically you don't 'need' a SmartBone but you should use them.
I am not an authority but one of the few cases where I don't need a SB is when I'm binding a group of vector layers together such as a 'head bone' for eyes, nose, hair, etc. You want everything to move together as a unit.
Someone could write several chapters on what SB's can do. I'll just say that understanding bones and binding is an important part of the AS animation process.
