Creating Shadows for Character Animation

Post by toshiyori »

Having a character moving across a background scene I want to apply shadows for the character. The "Paint Bucket Tool" has not been successful for me, any idea how I could accomplish this ?

Open the layer properties and find the "Colorizing" feature in the general tab.

I guess that's what you are looking for.

You can also apply some blur there.

Somehow I lost you Droxon, I cannot locate "Layers Properties" , or "General Tab" either. I am using Debut 10.

It's because you are not being too specific with your problem. Anyway, try this:
- Double click the layer of your character, that will open the "Layer Settings" window
- Now go to the "Shadow" tab and activate the "3d shadow".
There you have some options to play with. Once you are ready, press apply.
- The shadow is not visible in the project window, but it is there when you export your animation. To check how is it looking, render the current frame pressing Ctrl+R.

Thanks again Droxon, Another thing I'm having trouble with and I have yet to see this shown in any tutorial, after getting through the "Bones" and all's well with the manipulations, the character still shows the "Bones" even through the animation. One time I was successful by applying a "Switch Layer". Is there a way to make these bones invisible when through with the bones applications ?

What you see during playback in production depends on which layer you have selected. Play around a bit to learn which stuff shows up under which conditions. Most effects and stuff will only show up in the rendered video.
