New and looking for volunteers.
Hi everyone. I've been looking at this forum for a while and finally decided to join. At the moment I am developing a cartoon series that I'm going to put on a website and hopefully will someday move to tv. I've written the script for the pilot episode , and am currently almost complete with all the voice recordings. (i have about 15 different voice talents working for me)
In my production process, i've encountered a problem with designing the characters. I myself am not good at designing them (as in figuring out what style the characters will be in and what they look like) and I am also having trouble actually drawing and rigging them in moho.
I'm wondering if anyone would like to work with me in designing the style and look of the characters, then drawing and rigging them in moho. I know the style of drawing i want, and will send samples. (AIM or msn messenger would be best for talking back and forth about the designs) I will also send the script to whoever wants to help because i know people don't want to work on something they know nothing about. I can't pay anyone, so this is a volunteer type thing. Of course you will recieve credit for designing and creating the look of the characters. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me here.
P.S. I'm serious about this cartoon series because it's my dream. I'm not going to post this and never come back. Heh. Also, i'm sorry if my description of the project is kind of weird, it's hard to write out what i need.

no i have not set up a website yet. What information would you like? What style i want the characters to be made in? The script? Brief description of the show? Ask and I'll talk. ^_^
By the way, whoever decides to help, I'm going to work closely with you on the designing the characters. This will probably be accomplished by showing you the type of style i want (as in samples. i'm collecting work on the net that looks similar to what i want) and a description of what they look like. Then you'd make a sample of what you think i'm talking about, then i can tell you what to tweek. If there's another way you want to do it, just tell me.

Cartwright,
Something to considerwhen working on a volunteer project like this: You mention that you want to turn this into a TV series. If someone designs the characters for you for free, who will own the rights to that character.
You need to solve this up from, and in writing. Because if you get TV money, people who design for free m ight like to have a percentage of your profits - ie, theydo the design work and you get the money: In the past I have seen some very bitter disputes over the very subject of who owns the rights.
Fix it up front in writing, and there will be less blood on the carpet later.
Just remember that merchandising is a multi-million dollar business and well worth suing a production company for breach of copyright.

Nice idea, thanks for your input. I thought about that. That's one reason i didnt want to get outside help, but I have a tight schedule and can not do it alone. I don't know how i'd put it in writing. You think i should make something for people to sign or what? The only thing i was thinking of is that if it does go on tv, you will recieve a part of the money for designing the characters. I dont know if that would still apply if i got a production team ( as in if i got on tv) who may completely redesign the characters for the tv version of the show. I'll have to think about your input.Rhoel wrote:Cartwright,

EDIT: if i redesign the characters for the tv version, would that solve the copyright problem? They'd probably be similar though...aghhh thats confusing. I'm sure i can figure something out.

^_^ yeah i have a basic idea of what style i want. I just want it to look good and be rigged by people who know what they are doing. (cause i don't know how to do it that well) The cartoon will be on the web for a while because i plan on making plenty of episodes. It's hard to design characters because i'm more about writing and thinking of ideas. It should be fun to work with someone to design and create the look of the characters. Mr. Blaaa would you like me to send you the script?mr. blaaa wrote:Well, i would like to help. (Gladfully you read the "Jobs" posts^^)
Iam pretty sure if you know what you want we can achieve it.
