layer animation

I've read the tutorials and such and I went to creat my own animation. Its a simple drawing of a pair of hands holding a toy. it exists in frame 0 and looks nice when rendered. I want to make it it move. So i did what the tutorial says and clicked on fram 72. EVERYTHING DISAPPEARS. there is nothing to move so a keyframe can be made. Ive tried all sorts of things. I used moho a coupke years ago and an older version and don't recal this happening. I didn;t do the tutorial excerisce but I followed them in terms of how to draw and animate and the way they descrive it (and I remember) is you click on the frame, the image remains, and you move it to create the frame. what am I doing wrong.

In the timeline, is it red? it could be that you've turn the visiblity off my accident, also check to see if there's any current animations in the timeline - On the timeline, click "Settings" and click "all." OK that and scroll down (not across, otherwise you progress through the frames) and delete any KeyFrames after frame 0.
