illustrator to moho
on a mac os x exporting from illustrator cs into moho and having all sorts of probs. is there an easy way?
Some general observations, for a general question
:
You can export as .ai (or .eps) and import into Moho as editable curves, or you can export as .png and import into .moho as images.
Don't just save the .ai file, export as a legacy .ai file from Illustrator, preferably about Illustrator 7. Illustrator version 9 - or therabouts - completely changed the internal format of the .ai file (from something like .eps to something like .pdf), and Moho does not understand these later format files.
If you export as .ai or .eps, not every feature will come across untouched, particularly if that feature is not implemented in Moho, or implemented differently. For example: simple colours and simple outline thickness will probably come across (although there may be some CMYK-to-RGB problems), artistic brushes and gradients will not.
Curves will change somewhat and may need to be tweaked in Moho (sharp corners in particular). Moho uses (invisible) symmetrical handles to avoid animation problems - for example, non-symmetrical Illustrator nodes can not be reproduced exactly using Moho's existing curves.
Any specific questions/examples?
Regards, Myles.
