Bone tool question :)

Post by voozel »

hey guys
i wonder if there is a way to lock a bone (make it steady) while other bones that are connected to it are moving?
for example: i want to make my characters hips move but whenever i move them the whole legs and feet move so how do i make the feet bones steady ?

I haven't had to solve this problem recently, but one solution I came up with in the past is to have two bone chains, one for each leg. I started with a horizontal bone for the foot, and then vertical bones for the rest of the leg. You have to tweak around with the hips a lot, but at least this way the feet are pretty steady.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

I recently needed to have the parent bone of all other bones locked but it would not work. For example, I had a sky scraper image that needed to move like it was in a earthquake but I needed the base of the building to stay still. For some reason the 1st bone in a chain can not be locked. I did work around this by setting the bone constraints to 0-0.
Sorry for bad animation

having been through several earthquakes now, i'd just like to point out that in an earthquake - the base shouldn't stay still... since the earth is quaking :P :) ;)
