Export as flash with transparent background?

Post by Telemacus »

I've read some posts where instructions are provided on how to export animations to avi with a transparent background (or using chroma).
But I haven't found anything on how to export an animation into flash format with a transparent background.
Can it be done at all?

I've done it dozens of times. What problem are you having exactly?

Well, when I try to export as Swf, there's no option to export with a transparent background.
If I choose render style-> fill style-> none or back transparent, I still get a solid colour background.
How do you do it?

With vector graphics, if you export to .swf, the default is transparent background. Never had a problem with the background blocking in...

I'm using a screen capture program called "Demo creator", and this is what happens when I use a .swf made with AS:

Image

The image on the left (the x), is one of the default .sfw files that the program uses. The one of the right (the circle) is the imported .swf I made with AS. As you can see, my file is not transparent. Actually, when you play the movie, it is transparent (it doesn't display the white background, only the circle) but the fact that it displays with the visible background when you try to position it on the screen makes it quite hard to find the right spot, and that's the issue that I'm having.

So actually, this problem is one step removed from the output from AS, which seems to work correctly? Do you have Flash? If so, you could import the .swf file from AS and export an .ai or .eps file. Programs like Illustrator or Xara Xtreme could do this too (and I'm sure there are many more). If the movie plays with a transparent background as advertised, then surely AS has functioned properly?

Yes, indeed, Anime Studio has functioned properly, this is not really an issue with the output files.
After some more tests, it seems that this is just an odd behaviour in Wondershare's Demo Creator.

Thanks Jahocli.

No problem. After a while you begin to doubt yourself!

It sounds like Wondershare's Demo Creator doesn't support transparency.

Demo creator is actually a really good program, really easy to use, fast and pretty flexible. (not to mention that it's really cheap compared to Camtasia and others).
It does support transparency, it's just that when you add an external flash file, when you try to position it over the movie, the frame doesn't display with transparency, but when you play the movie, the flash file is completely transparent, that's all.
