Embedded Layer Script Issue ASP 9.5

I have been working on some embedded layer scripts and found the following issue.

If I use a script in a single layer (say change the scale) all works as expected in the viewport and if I render out a short test sequence.

Now the issue

I have a script on a group layer that includes two vector layers (each of which have a test shape on them) this script reads the two vector layers attached to the group and takes some action (in this test case one moves the layer and the other randomley moves the layer) now this works in the viewport when I run the timeline but it will but not produce a result if I render our a test (it stays on frome 0)

I have tried setting anything I can regarding layers in both the group layer or the individual layers to no effect.

Have I missed something - is this not possible - is this a bug?

Any thoughts would be gratefully recieved
