Tutorial 4.3 audio not working right?

Post by Bee-ruce »

Hi. I've just been going through Mohos Image tutorial 4.3 (Talking Head) on animating a photoimage mouth to a soundtrack. When I get to the part where I import the soundtrack(Reagan wav file)......then try playing the soundtrack back.....it doesnt playback at the correct speed......instead it plays very slowly and lowly.....sounding like a "demonic Regan in slow motion". Wondering whats going on here. Why wont it play back at correct speed? Note:-Using Quicktime version 6.5.2 Thanks.

Also tried opening some other audio clips but get they same slow-motion type playback. Went to File-Project settings and set the frame to 1 and the audio plays alot better(although not perfect). Still dont understand whats going on. Cant find any advice bout this in the documentation.

When you say
playing the soundtrack back
do you mean within the application, or once you have exported an animation?
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Hi. I mean playing it back within the application. In my previous post I should have said "set the framerate to 1" rather than the word frame. Are you suggesting that I have to render or export the scene in order for the audio to play at correct speed? Thanks.

Thats exactly what you have to do, Moho can't playback audio at realtime from the timeline.
This would not be such a big issue (I don't think you can find any animation tool that playbacks from the timeline without some kind of prerender function) if it were not for the pitch change which makes it impossible to sync animation to audio using the soundtrack feature.

Thanks for the help...will try it again. Strange that this is not mentioned in the tutorial. It only says after importing "the audio file will now playback with the animation...try playing it back if you like". I've been working through a good number of the tutorials and find that alot of them are clear, well written and very useful however have come across two or three that leave out an important step or leave alot of questions unanswered.....another example....in the "actions" tutorial 5.6 it tells you how to use actions that are already created but does not tell you how to create actions. Anyways ...guess I'll figure it out. Thanks again.

See the FAQ entry on speeding up audio playback, which may be able to get you up to a working speed, with some trade-offs.
